8-Bit Loop

"Well, I have to be honest..."

submission: 8-Bit Loop
date: December 31, 2008

Even though this is a nice loop, I have two complaints:

1) It's too short.

2) The transition between the end of the track and the beginning of the track isn't as smooth as it could have been. Listen closely to when the song starts over, and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Set Me Free _ RR

"A Wondeful Mood-Lifter"

submission: Set Me Free _ RR
date: December 15, 2008

This song falls under the purest definition of "uplifting." As I move with the music, I feel very spirited, as if the singer's voice is carrying me close to heaven.

That being said, I must mention my small gripe with this song, which others are bound to also bring up; this song does not vary as much as one would expect beyond the addition of vocals at 1:30. However, I do not consider this a particularly major "fault" of the song; it merely convinced me to give the song a 9 instead of a 10.

Still, who really cares about those numbers? What is more important is the fact that you made a song that is enjoyable for others to hear, right? Trust me; you have definitely succeeded in doing that. Keep it up, man!

Author's Response:

thank you so much for the great review. Yes, it is repetative, and its one of the draw backs of my style of writing... or the lack of creativity on my side...lol, but ya.... i'm just interested in making something catchy.

Really appreciate the review, means a lot.

"I'm telling ya..."

submission: Sonic Megamix
date: November 9, 2008

...if I heard this track back when I was in my "Sonic prime" in 2004, I would have soiled myself. Everything about it is just so...massive. I can barely contain myself.

This truly deserves the title of "Megamix."

Joyous Stick Man

"A Pleasant But Dull Tune"

submission: Joyous Stick Man
date: November 7, 2008

This track succeeds in setting a nice and happy atmosphere. But, I have to say that it is rather short, which is made worse by the fact that it does not loop well. Even if it did, the track becomes a little boring as it progresses.

It seems to me like this is the type of music that blends well with the background, like in a waiting room at the doctor's office. Consequently, having this quality means that the track is pretty ignorable and, thus, it isn't very engaging. This means that I personally wouldn't mind hearing this in a lobby, but I wouldn't play it on my iTunes or stereo.

All in all, this track does fulfill your stated purpose of making something "a bit happier than most of [your] songs." It's now your job to figure out whether or not you are truly satisfied with it.

Author's Response:

honestly, not really, I feel I do the dark ambient atmosphere or even some of my other miscelaneous genres much better than this.

"An Enthralling Masterpiece"

date: November 7, 2008

This track is phenomenal. It's clear-cut, no-bullshit, we're-in-the-action music. It never stops flowing until the end.

I do not have an ounce of criticism for it.

"You've done better."

date: October 12, 2008

This is a passable relaxation track. The sounds that you decided to use work pretty well together.

However, transitioning is a notable problem with this track. The period between 0:36 and 0:37 and the one between 0:44 and 0:45 are great examples of what I am trying to indicate. Also, the track, for some reason, has 5 seconds of silence in the beginning and has an abrupt ending. Both of those are big no-nos. Finally, please try to use other sounds besides presets, or at least alter presets in ways that will make your track sound less generic.

I'm not trying to insult your work. I'm just trying to help.

Author's Response:

Oh well, I live off presets. :D . and the 5 second break at the start was to make it less- how you call it 'abrupt' I guess i delayed it too long. oh well, If that wasnt there I guess it would of gotten 7 or 8. meh :(.

I guess audio isnt really my thing, I guess I'll stick to flash...kinda.

And anyway, The 3 audios of mine you reviewed were my FIRST 3. I'm kinda new to audio. meh :\

.:Bloodman's Unique 2:.

"Somewhat Satisfactory"

date: October 12, 2008

Well, I'll tell you right now that this is definitely better than your original .:Bloodman's Unique 2:. Most of the sounds, in some way, fit together. So, this track does flow pretty well.

However, the last 6 seconds (the guitar solo) interrupts the flow, and is therefore unneeded. Also, like you mentioned in your comment, the transition between the end and beginning of the track is rather abrupt. Finally, the fact that this track is not a loop makes the short length an even bigger problem.

All in all, to state it simply:

1) Cut all the useless portions
2) Make a better end-to-beginning transition (if you want it to be a loop)
3) Make it longer

BONUS REQUEST: Stray from the presets ( I know you use them ^_~ )

"Everyone, to the dance floor!"

submission: \\\Solarius///
date: October 12, 2008

This is quite a track. The beat is lively; the flow is smooth; each portion of the track plays at the ideal volume; and, overall, I can imagine myself dancing to it at a club. There is nothing conceivably "wrong" with this track. You "followed all the rules" with it.

Yet, I felt that you could have done even more to make your track distinguish itself from other great dance tracks. For example, maybe you could have added more variation to the section of the track that spanned from 2:20 to 2:48, as it sounds a bit too similar to section spanning from 0:56 to 1:24. Well, at least that's my opinion.

Still, don't let me little gripe pull your down. You have composed a marvelous track that has a permanent home on my favorites.

Vocorder Trance

"I'm quite disappointed..."

submission: Vocorder Trance

....because I know this would make a fantastic introduction to a longer song. In fact, to best sum up this track, it feels like it's working its way up to something powerful, and then it just tapers off toward the end.

Please consider my advice: Use the first 40 or so seconds of this track as the intro for one of your future tracks. I'm sure it would garner so much more positive feedback if you do so.

.:Bloodman's Unique:.

"Nice and Cheerful"

date: October 12, 2008

To me, this would work well as the background music playing while a happy fellow is marching carefree along the road.

I like this loop, but it is not without its flaws. Specifically, I have a problem with the frequent, short pauses that occur during the beginning of the song. They interrupt "the flow," at least for me. Also, this song does not loop so well, as the transition between the end and the beginning is noticeably abrupt.

Nevertheless, this was quite a pleasant composition.

October 12, 2008

Author's Response:

Thanks, it wasn't really supposed to be a loop. I don't know about the short pauses, and with the abrupt part for the beginning and end, Blame my recording skills. >:|

Thanks again for the 7!
